THE FACE THAT LIES
We live in a world where you have to have thick skin. One where you are looked down upon for showing your emotions. Where people will potentially take advantage of you if you allow yourself to be vulnerable. Sometimes it seems that the only acceptable emotion is to walk around with a chip on your shoulder. It is a defense mechanism. As a child growing up I used to smile in my pictures and my male peers asked me why I smiled for the camera? They expressed to me that smiling in pictures made you come off weak. They said that men are supposed to "mean mug in pictures" (look tough). For years I continued this way of thinking. It wasn't until I found Christ that I realized how amazing it was to smile (ironically enough I am not smiling in this newsletter picture lol)
On the other hand there are other people who put on a smile to look tough, though they are suffering from anxiety or depression. No matter if you wear a smile or a mean mug the issue here isn't your facial expression. The question is are you dealing with this emotion that you are hiding? You can fool the world but you can't fool God. Although the world may laugh at your pain, you don't have to hide it from Jesus. He knows every issue that you are dealing with. He knows how stressful life can be. And he wants you to be transparent with him. He also wants you to seek Biblical counsel and find people who can speak truth and love into your life and into your situations. He doesn't want you to have to walk through life dealing with problems alone. This doesn't mean tell every problem to every person, but make sure you have a few in your close circle who can give you advice in a loving way.
JAMES 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
1 PETER 5:7 Cast all of your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."
